NADP Monthly Member Meeting- How Marijuana & Cannabis Use Are Playing a Role in Divorce
December 21 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm EST
Marijuana is legal for adults in 18 states and Washington, D.C. Medical marijuana is legal in 37. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is an active ingredient of cannabis (marijuana). People use CBD products such as oils, lotions and gummies to relieve pain, lessen stress/anxiety and help combat insomnia. Depending on who you talk to, some are going to see the benefits of having these things in your home, while others are going feel the complete opposite. Now, what happens if you are in the middle of a divorce and your soon-to-be “ex” is using these items on a regular basis? Can you bring it to the court’s attention? Should you make the Judge aware? Can you use it against the other side when you are trying to determine custody/visitation? California legal eagle Jamie E. Wright is an expert in this area and is going to sort this all out. Wright is an attorney and principal in the J. Wright Law Group, P.C. In 2013, she was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the Medical Board of California. In October 2014, Wright was elected as the Chair of Panel A, one of the disciplinary and hearing panels for the Medical Board of California. In 2015, Wright was appointed to the Board of the Federation of State Medical Boards. Wright was reappointed in 2018, and was recently appointed to the Marijuana Task Force where she is one of three Board members who drafts regulations for physicians prescribing cannabis.
